Baby Boy Has RSV

***UPDATE***  Baby Boy is home as of 1/30!!  Thank you for praying for him.  After a week long stay at the hospital he came home on oxygen but no other meds and is ready to catch up on some sleep.  We are so thankful he's home.****

You guys, this sweet sweet little man has been through so much the last week.   He is currently hospitalized at a pediatric specialty hospital and is receiving amazing care on an ICU unit.  The poor guy tested positive for RSV and is battling a pretty severe case of it.

Please please pray for him to be making a full and complete recovery!

He's working so hard now to get better but tires easily, coughs frequently, and needs regular suction to remove mucous build up in his lungs.  He was already medically fragile to begin with, is barely 5 weeks old, and is only the 4th percentile on the growth curve so...not a whole lot in his favor right now.

So, last Saturday night Ryan and I noticed him feeling crummy but gave him extra snuggles and didn't think too much of it.  By Sunday night I was on the phone with a nurse's line relaying his symptoms and then driving to an Urgent Care at 10:00 pm.  He had retractions at his ribs and in his neck, abdominal breathing, and this horrid cough that just wracked his little body.  It was awful for him

They suctioned him, monitored his vitals and sent us home.

Monday morning I drove back to Urgent Care because they told me to return if he did not improve.  One look at him and they knew they couldn't do much for him so while they stabilized him an ambulance was sent to get us to a big hospital for better care.

He was/is so so sick.  This little guy has been through so much.  3 IV attempts, 2 catheterizations, 3 different breathing delivery methods, countless deep suctions, countless nose suctions, fevers, coughing spells, and so much more.

He is a fighter!  We are so proud of this tiny man.  Our families and friends have been the GREATEST blessing enabling him to have 24/7 care since he was hospitalized.  We just knew he couldn't be in a big hospital alone without someone who knew him and would advocate for him.  So he's been loved on around the clock which is such a gift.

Friends are dropping off meals, family is babysitting and buying us meals, my MOPS group are dropping off supplies and meals, and so much more.  We are blown away by the grace and love always shown to us.

So please pray for Baby Boy and lift him up daily.  We are hopefully out of the woods and going to start seeing more improvement soon!

He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
