Jesus Is Better

We're out tromping in the snow today (aka snowshoeing) and it is an incredible way to enjoy this day!  Fresh air, exercise, time together, the mountains.  Each of those things are good, excellent even and should be considered amazing gifts!

However they are nothing but dull compared to the Gift Giver, the one who created each.

We dig feeling well, having health, and being out of hopsitals!
It's nice to have time and no worries.
It's a blessing to have rythmn in life.
We enjoy being outdoors.
Relationships are good.
Marriage is amazing.
Family rocks.
Friends enhance our lives.
A social life is enjoyable.
Ministry feeds our souls.

But guess what?

Jesus trumps those things.  Every single one.

Jesus rises above snowshoeing, hikes, and the mountains.
Jesus is better than being or feeling health.
He is more fulfilling than abundant free time.
He is the rhytyhm to our day.
He is the creator of the oudoors.
He outshines every relationship and person.
Jesus is better than marriage.
Cooler than my husband (no offense hubs).
Our social life doesn't even hold a match to him.
And Jesus is even more important than ministry to-do's and projects.

A whole lot of our identity has been stripped away this year.  Everything we thought was important...just isn't.  Anything outside of the Lord simply cannot be our identity, our hope, our fulfillment.  It just won't add up to much.

Especially not when it compares to "I Am".

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.  And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

Colossians 1:15-18
