Surgery #7

Ry went back today at 8:20 am for his 7th surgery in 3 months.  I can't even believe I just wrote that sentence...it just shocks me at all he has been through.

Tired husband.  Even though this season is hard he loves Jesus, trusts in the Lord's promises, and remains joyful.  Wow-he is amazing!

He has not been able to tolerate any food for the last 10 days.  If you read back a few posts, you'll see that he has a surgery on October 24th for an ileostomy revision; a fairly minor and we thought easy surgery.  But here we are, in the hospital 11 days later.  Eating and drinking makes Ryan queasy, bloated, cramped, nauseous, and generally sick.  You can't live that way!! You have to be able to eat!

So our ever amazing surgeon, Dr. B, is going back in to "revise his ileostomy and for exploratory purposes".  Dr. B admits that Ryan doesn't have all the usual symptoms of an intestinal blockage or if he is symptomatic, they are sporadic and atypical.  So in all honesty he is opening him back up to get a peek at what's happening in his intestines and just going with the flow once he's in there.

The best guess right now is that there is excess scar tissue somewhere along his small intestinal line, a twist in the bowel that makes it hard for food to get through, or perhaps even a hernia at the stoma site.  Those are the surgeons guesses so we'll go with it and PRAY!

P.S.  Do you want to know how hard core our surgeon is?  He couldn't take Ryan back into surgery yesterday only because the dude was up at 1 am SAVING a guy's life.  He had recently given a 19 year old male an ileostomy who had Ulcerative Colitis.  But Saturday morning that patient was rushed to the ER for septic shock and Dr. B said the kid almost died!!  Dang!  He obviously didn't, but he told us it was scary nonetheless and really was a hard case.  Now we know Dr. B isn't God, but the man is he dedicated to his work and such a rockstar.  Who just gets up at 1 am to save someone's life?  So cool. I trust him more than anyone with my husband's life.  So rest assured that Ryan is in capable and dedicated hands.

Prayers please today for a full recovery for Ryan and that his health issues would be fully resolved!

Pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him.  Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

  1. I'll be praying. "Heal me oh Lord and I am healed, save me and I am saved, for you are the one I praise."
