Happy Friday!  And Happy early Father's Day.  What do you have planned this weekend?  Saturday the Deckers are having a BBQ to celebrate and Sunday we are heading to my parents house to celebrate my dad with a dinner.  I'm in charge of dessert for both-yum!

And here's an update on us and some pictures from the last week!

Ryan Update: He is looking better and feeling a little better too!  His appetite is slowly increasing so we are hopeful that he will start gaining some of those lost 30 lbs back.  Overall the nurse we saw 3 times last week to change his packing, said the surgical wound (literally a big opening the size of a penny) looked healthy and no infection was forming.  Things are healing and draining as they should.  We have a post-op appointment with our surgeon next week, an appointment with his GI Specialist, and we need to schedule a colonoscopy as soon as we can.  Unfortunately, Ryan is still weak and tired and has frequent stomach aches and pain.  But despite that we did make it to a movie this week and a special dinner.  That is HUGE win for us! Please keep praying, Ryan is not out of the woods yet and recovery is still a slow progression.  We appreciate you and are grateful to journey with you!

Harpo Update: Naughty.  Exploring.  Has a new found love of ice cubes and sitting on the couch while we're gone.

Carly Update:  I have a full schedule taking care of Ryan and completing projects for my job but it's low key.  We are figuring out more of a rhythm to our days and how to function in this season. It's not easy but we're getting there.  I am getting away once a week to a coffee shop (or thanks to my mom, Barnes & Noble with a gift card) to recharge and get some time to process alone.  I can easily start to feel stressed when I don't get to a break or time away.  I'm feeling encouraged and very, very loved by the endless support of family and friends around us.  Basically I am grateful that Ryan is getting better and it's an honor to stand by him in everything.

And now for the pictures...

Our Wedding Cake!  My mom triple wrapped this goodness and it tasted totally normal and yummy.  We forgot to eat it on our 1st anniversary but better late than never.

The celebratory bouquet from our friends Ed & Joyce.  So sweet-these flowers were AMAZING!

We did an anniversary re-do on Thursday night at Melting Pot.  Ryan took his pain medicines and was so brave to make it through a 3 hour dinner.  What a stud!  Oh and that dress is not a onsie ha ha ha  It was just static-y.

Matt & Ryan, what great friends!

Melting Pot dessert dipped in crunchy peanut butter chocolate fondue.  Yum!

With my dessert!

He started feeling better after a little sugar...ha ha!
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ...

  1. Hi, love the picture of y'all together very sweet. I like your dress!! It seems that Harpo is well behave to roam your home when you aren't there if that is the case then you are bless, because our dogs CANNOT be left out of the crate when we are not home. We walk our dogs two times a day but yet one evening when we went out and left Tree out, she ate our entire sofa down to the wood frame and left " special surprises" all over my kitchen floor and mattress Everything had to be replace and still to this day my blood boils when I think about it. We cannot leave her out of the crate no matter.

    1. Ha ha ha Kay I am NOT laughing at the anger you felt but only at how totally naughty dogs can be!!!!! What makes them loose their mind and manners when we are gone? Tree sounds like he had a grand ole time while he was out :)

Harpo was a rescue and we think was abused from some weird traits he s still overcoming. I think his crate was used as punishment because he is terrified of it and poops/pees every time he's in it :( He is so well behaved when we leave him out and we're gone so we put an old blanket over our couches to avoid stains. Sigh. Oh well! Oooh and thanks for the dress compliment-its from Target!

    2. Both Tree and Turkey was a rescue also. Turkey was found under a abandon trailer in 20 ft snow. Tree on the other hand was abused and we don't really know her history. Tree has this habit whens she is free to go loco. She somehow manage to get Chocolate brownies off of the kitchen counter. Mr. T has been mentioning that we should get more dogs ( I feel two is enough and he don't). The deal is if he somehow come across a winning lottery ticket then we can buy 300 acres in the mountains and adopt about 20 rescue dogs (That will be the day)..I do love my babies and are so thankful for them. One thing that they are good at is letting us knowing when someone is knocking on the door, they really have our back and understand that we are deaf.We are training them using sign language so far they understand sit down and bathroom. Target does have some cute stuff!! i love their maxi skirts super comfy.

  2. Hey! So happy Ryan is feeling better and can't wait to see you both tomorrow! Also, I loved your last anniversary post because believe or not we also fought on our anniversary and so you guys are so not alone!!!

    1. Awesome-way to be real even on your anniversary! Ryan is feeling a little better but it's hit or miss day to day. Hopefully it just keeps progressing and tomorrow will be a good day to celebrate :)

  3. Yay for healing! He looks like quite a goofball in that last photo- but having fun, which is important :) That's a great idea to do the once a week getaway at B&N for yourself. You're doing so great supporting him. Praying for you both friend- hope you're weekend is great!

    1. I'm definitely receiving a lot of encouragement from different amazing ladies in my life to get away and not feel guilty about it. Taking care of ourselves is supportive just like caring directly for someone we love! Good words Nicole :)
