Happy Friday! And Happy early Father's Day. What do you have planned this weekend? Saturday the Deckers are having a BBQ to celebrate and Sunday we are heading to my parents house to celebrate my dad with a dinner. I'm in charge of dessert for both-yum!
And here's an update on us and some pictures from the last week!
Ryan Update: He is looking better and feeling a little better too! His appetite is slowly increasing so we are hopeful that he will start gaining some of those lost 30 lbs back. Overall the nurse we saw 3 times last week to change his packing, said the surgical wound (literally a big opening the size of a penny) looked healthy and no infection was forming. Things are healing and draining as they should. We have a post-op appointment with our surgeon next week, an appointment with his GI Specialist, and we need to schedule a colonoscopy as soon as we can. Unfortunately, Ryan is still weak and tired and has frequent stomach aches and pain. But despite that we did make it to a movie this week and a special dinner. That is HUGE win for us! Please keep praying, Ryan is not out of the woods yet and recovery is still a slow progression. We appreciate you and are grateful to journey with you!
Harpo Update: Naughty. Exploring. Has a new found love of ice cubes and sitting on the couch while we're gone.
Carly Update: I have a full schedule taking care of Ryan and completing projects for my job but it's low key. We are figuring out more of a rhythm to our days and how to function in this season. It's not easy but we're getting there. I am getting away once a week to a coffee shop (or thanks to my mom, Barnes & Noble with a gift card) to recharge and get some time to process alone. I can easily start to feel stressed when I don't get to a break or time away. I'm feeling encouraged and very, very loved by the endless support of family and friends around us. Basically I am grateful that Ryan is getting better and it's an honor to stand by him in everything.
And now for the pictures...
Our Wedding Cake! My mom triple wrapped this goodness and it tasted totally normal and yummy. We forgot to eat it on our 1st anniversary but better late than never.
The celebratory bouquet from our friends Ed & Joyce. So sweet-these flowers were AMAZING!
We did an anniversary re-do on Thursday night at Melting Pot. Ryan took his pain medicines and was so brave to make it through a 3 hour dinner. What a stud! Oh and that dress is not a onsie ha ha ha It was just static-y.
Matt & Ryan, what great friends!
Melting Pot dessert dipped in crunchy peanut butter chocolate fondue. Yum!
With my dessert!
He started feeling better after a little sugar...ha ha!
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ...
