Friday Surgery

Well we have some news to report on Ryan's health...

He has unfortunately gotten a lot worse over the last week or so.  More pain, less appetite, frequent fevers, etc.  Huge bummer but thank the Lord we are headed in for surgery this Friday, May 11 @ 3:15 pm.

So you can know specifically what is happening and how to pray, here is what Ryan's surgery will look like, it is a 3 in 1 of sorts...#1 a colonoscopy to detect and diagnosis any type of inflammatory bowel disease.  The doctors suspect Crohn's Disease but that is inconclusive right now.  #2 Also they will be doing a full internal exam to find what our doctor also thinks is an abscess.  An abscess would explain the fevers, loss of appetite and some other crazy symptoms.  #3 Finally, if it is possible they will be cutting his sphincter muscle about 1/4 inch to relax the muscle and reduce spasming and pain.  There are a few other things happening in the procedure but those are the most important details.  Recovery is anticipated to take 7-10 days.

Please pray! That is all we know to do right now.

Specific prayer needed for:
-Encouragement and strength for Ryan until Friday
-Hope and faith that this surgery will be a solution
-Wisdom, focus, knowledge, gentleness, and attentiveness from his doctors
-A rapid and FULL recovery after his procedure
-God's supernatural strength and overwhelming peace to cover us
-Blessings and increased capabilities for those loving on us and taking care of us through this (Our moms especially!  They are serving us this Mother's Day weekend, wow!  As well as the rest of our families.)

Please pray or join this Facebook group for more current details.  Thanks for letting us be real on this blog and share the gory details.

Ryan is asleep now which is so good for his body and mind.   I'm so proud of my persevering, brave husband-he just got through reading a devotional about Simon and Noah being sifted and their walks with God during trials.  We are certainly experiencing a refinement in this process and we pray for pure grain out of this process.

  4. Praying for you both, and everyone helping you out! I know how hard it can be to be going through this, not as the one who is sick, but as the one who is around the sick person.

I always look forward to getting your posts in my email.

And yes, Pinterest is so very addicting!!! I love that site. :)

  5. Are you familiar with GAPS. It is a temporary diet that focuses in actually healing the gut. You can google it. It has been helpful in my families food journey

  6. Are you familiar with GAPS. It is a diet that actually focuses on healing the gut- not just treating the symptoms a messed up gut causes. There is a lot if info on line. The gutsense.org site is also helpful.

    1. Hmmm...I'm not familiar with it Jami but I will check it out. The only frustrating part for us is that we eat SO healthy and really take care of ourselves in the first place: Organic, high veggie/fruit content, whole grains, lean meats etc. We are totally into preventative care which is very opposite of the much of Western world's medicinal approach.

We would love to get to the root of the problem though and not just cover up the symptoms. Thanks so much for your input we REALLY appreciate any wisdom Jami :)
