48 Hours

What can you do with 48 hours and 1 weekend?

Well you can buy a house to start....

Pull up 1300 sq ft of orange and brown carpet.

Remove endless amounts of base boards and tack strips.

Paint white trim on a bunch of orangey oak windows.

Cover 5 rooms and 2 hallways with two coats of paint.

End up with SUPER sore feet, stiff hands, but a very high feeling of achievement!

Thank you to all our volunteers this weekend!! We had amazing helpers like my mom (who patched every hole and cleaned every window), Stacey & Jason (who"cut-in" every single piece of our unending trim!), Georgie & Y-lo (who painted so many rooms with TWO coats and installed lighting), Ross (who also did all our trim and helped me feel better about a bad choice called Safari yellow...ugh) and Ryan Decker who graciously bought the house, pulled up carpet, removed/labeled trim, painted, bought lunch, and had lots of patience with everyone.

Dang we are so loved and really appreciate all the help. We would still be there if it weren't for everyone.

Can't wait to show the before and after pictures...Right now it is still a mess but looks 100% better since just 2 days ago!!

Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good.

It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.

Psalm 127:1-2

  1. Whoo Hooo!!! I need some pictures over here ASAP! You're a homeowner! Now that's weird! Miss you sissy!

  2. Linny we cannot wait for you to see the house and all the work everyone has done!

I borrowed Dad's camera and have been snapping away over every detail. It was so grimey in the house before but now it is airy and so pretty :)

    P.S. E-mail us back ASAP!
